聽James Blunt的確會讓你的情緒不安於室。
我都將James的音樂與Damien Rice歸在同一類，總是太容易攪動潛藏已久的情感，只是James比Damien Rice多了幾份搖滾味，否則他們的美都在那些幾近令人心碎的歌詞裡。
James的歌聲很會引導你的情緒，用那種輕飄的假音唱腔，再配上電吉他與鼓聲，一點folk、一點rock，在心中緩緩的炸開。空心吉他的刷弦是James音樂最常運用來摧化人心的樂器，只要吉他弦聲就可以刷出令人心碎的旋律。
You are beautiful是他第一張專輯的成名作品。我記得當時第一次接觸到James Blunt是在香港的一家唱片行，那時店家正播放著這首歌，有時候我對音樂有一種非常性的直覺。不一定要聽到音樂，甚至看到音樂封面我就知道這張專輯屬我族類，對於James Blunt的喜愛就是這樣，我不用把整張專輯聽完，我就可以賭定專輯裡的10首歌全是最愛。
不諱言，James Blunt的確有張俊帥漂亮的臉龐，深遂的眼神、濃密捲曲的黑髮、性感的嘴唇、高挺的身材，再配上一把吉他和性感的歌喉，要讓他變成偶像歌手也都可以。但是，他的歌卻跟他的人一樣美麗，卻令人心碎。
其實在他俊秀斯文的外表下，很難想像在踏入歌壇之前，他真的是位職業軍人，是帶兵打仗、真槍實彈的那種，因此，歌壇有人封他為「上尉詩人」。
James Blunt的情歌太動容，其實不太適合像我這種「想太多」的人聽，因為聽一聽我就容易陷入某種無法自拔的情緒裡。就像午夜夢迴時，滄涼的寂寞會襲捲你所有的防備，攤在眼前的就只剩下誠實卻幾近殘酷的詩意。
我最愛的兩首歌，也是最恨的兩首歌。You are beautiful與Goodbye my lover。愛的是歌的美，恨的也是歌的美，聽歌的時候，我就碎成千萬片了。

這也許應證了我總是悲觀與孤獨的想著：每個人都只是一座孤島。
